Radio program about the Rimini Antiphonal on 4 May

Tune in to the one-hour program at 2.00pm on Sunday 4 May on ABC Classic FM (92.9 MHz in Sydney): Rediscovering music, text and decoration: Australia's 14th century Franciscan antiphonal from Rimini.

The State Library of New South Wales recently hosted Australia's first ever performance of the Rimini Antiphonal in the splendid acoustics of the Mitchell Vestibule. A treasure from the State Library's Rare Books collection, the Rimini Antiphonal had not been heard for centuries and was brought to life by the St Laurence Gregorian Schola directed by Dr Neil McEwan.

ABC Programme Schedule

The NEER-sponsored symposium: "Cultural Translations: Remaking the Early European Past in Australasia" will be held 2-3 November 2006, at the State Library of Victoria. Convenors are Peter Holbrook (University of Queensland) and Stephanie Trigg (University of Melbourne). All welcome. Detailed abstracts of the papers will be available on the symposium Web site by the beginning of September. If you would like to be part of the programme as a formal respondent, please let us know.

NEER will provide financial assistance to postgraduate students and early career researchers wishing to attend this symposium. Closing date: 13 October.
