do I chip in at slide no 7 "NEER Confluence" by going to the website and showing what you can do

• browse as an anonymous user -- emphasizing that NEER Confluence is growing into a large (?ish) DB and give egs of search options,
• log in and edit, give/restrict permissions, leave comments,
• work in a group space, eg the page Pam, you and I use to manage new users
• other egs of management space, exchange of comments
• set watches and get notifications
• receive daily updates
• anything else to emphasize collaborative nature of the software?

aha, I Cc'ed to you the reply from the organisers in Brisbane, re. demo space. If we wanted to show the website we'd have to bring in our own laptop; they provide wireless inernet access. I remember you weren't planning to travel with your laptop; mine died a few months ago )-;

PS the unstable table heading on the register page. i've broken the space up by introducing a heading, level 4 comes up as a reasonably faint line, have a look at the page, it's there both at the top and bottom, what do you think?

Toby, one of your other Practicum students, Natalia, is desperately trying to get hold of you at the moment! She would like you to act as referee for her potential employment prospect(s). as you can see Ela has set me up with Confluence now....and i've got to say that it's a lot of fun . Im looking at the NGA Sculpture Catalogue and I have a bit of a problem. I searched for Ennemond Petitot but only 1 item pulled up but the catalogue print out has about 9 items.  There seems to be no trace of the other 8 or any record of their ACCN NO.  Until we can get this sorted I'm just going to move onto NGA Drawings in the meantime.

Hey Toby,

Concerning the two Queensland Art Gallery records ('The Flagellation of Christ' by Giambologna and 'Jesus healing the blind c. 1600-20' by Circle of Joos de Momper),  I can not find their respective Repository Work ID Number.

Also I wanted to let you know that I am leaving today at 1 o'clock and that by the looks of things Tuesday (15/01) will be my last day.

I have finished the AGNSW and I am satisfied with the PICMAN items. I was wondering whether you had any specific tasks for tomorrow? Until I hear from you I will search some non-NGA and NGV catalogues to see if there was anything that slipped through.

I've reached the end of the main listing in the Sinclair catalogue, entered the compulsory minimum data. The next section is an appendix of lost MSS, entries 234-243 -- do we want these included?

The last section -- Addenda entries 244-264 -- is going into the DB.

I've had a chat to the copying services, I'm going to send file samples to them, they can convert scanned images into doc or rtf files;

I'll experiment with different resolution to see what the best input is going to be for the OCR program to work.

The copying services will give us a quote for the conversion; they do scanning too (at extra cost), but are flat out at the moment, so can't do anything for three weeks whereas they'd do the conversion straight away -- so fingers crossed the test will work and the service will turn out to be affordable.

Also, am reading about the diff between Adobe Pro 7.0 and 8.0

I've saved us a few bob!! and a lot of time, I've converted the tiff into word and rtf in Adobe Pro 7.0, magic (could I be called a miner genius from now on ;) pleeeez)

Mark's downloaded another OCR program onto my machine at home, I'll run sample files thru it to test whether it does a better conversion job than what I'm getting from Adobe

We excavated a number of artefacts including a shilling stamped 1842 which happened to be found in my group's section. My last Arts Practicum workshop is on the 28th of Febuary and I was wondering whether you could email me a reference for my C.V.

hi toby, not sure whether you're the one to ask about this, but could i please register professor donald beecher (university of carleton, canada) for the 'diseases' space. cheers, yasmin -- oh, also, i don't seem to be getting notifications of 'comments' posted on pages even though i have clicked the little blue envelope. is it just because i am the one who made the comments, so they don't come to me? 

Hi Toby, is there an easy way to upload a batch of attachments? I manage to select the batch in Windows but then it only seems to take the first one when I click 'attach files' in confluence. I've got texts comprising hundreds of images which wld be v. laborious to upload individually ... cheers, Yasmin

Hi Toby. Hope you have had a lovely Christmas festival.

I'm fiddling with the new Confluence, and, while I agree it looks very good now - more spacious and easier to read - it seems to take much longer than it used to navigate from one area of the site to another. I  hope this will just be teething problems, but I thought I should point it out.
