    dear Natasha,

thankyou for being such a Confluence champion! I'm impressed with your infectious enthusiasm ... maybe you could go on commission with the company that's produced it; or are you purely a NEER confluence advocate? We'd prefer the latter, ela

    Hi Ela.

Well, I have been back a couple of days and have been watching these pages, but there is very little happening. I, too, wrote to Claire about the open aspect of her posts, and have not heard back from her, so I imagine everyone has gone home and forgotten everything. I intend to try and upload some of my work onto my space today as a security measure, so i hope that all works.

Thanks for all the chocolate...and the good cheer,

    Tasha

    Hiya Tasha,

I got intrigued that you left a comment in your own space, and as it was just a click away (I saw it in the "recently updated" on the dashboard), I went and had a look. Just as well I'm so nosy , sorry, meant to say I'm diligent; your comment was for me!

So here comes a question worth a white Freddo (can U believe I've still got some!!): where do you need to add a comment to reach your intended recipient (assuming I'm not watching your space)?

And regarding your observation about (in)activity, hmmm. We can't tell how much cluster activity goes on when they restrict viewing (in addition to editing) to members only. I'm hoping LOTS!

As for the individuals, start using it for as much as you can yourself: upload relevant docs (like Clare did with her PhD) and attachments and direct others to that page, leave comments for people and groups, if they are relevant to NEER/research business, rather than send emails. You might have noticed, that's what I do. ... change takes time, out with the old thinking and in with the new!

Can I suggest something? Can you add a new page in PG and ECR space and start writing a report, comments, observations from the conference, stuff that might be of interest to all PGs and ECRs, esp if they didn't kmake it to the conference. If you restrict the viewing of the page to yourself initially (when you're editing it), we won't get auto emails every time you change something, and when you want others to start adding comments, allow everybody to see it (change the viewing permission). Does this make sense? I'm hoping we'd get a round of comments, or extra thoughts on the page if you allow PGs & ECRs to edit your page, from the conference participants. What do you say? Must get on with my work, lots to do, ela

you did sneak in neatly into my space, well done (where's that Freddo!), I've been concentrating on a tricky problem on a set of pages, and didn't notice you at all, until I got back to the dashboard

aha, if you hadn't told me you've uploaded some files, I wouldn't know, 'cos you've restricted the viewing successfully

... who knows how many other users have been doing that at the same time  but (for good reasons) hiding their activity!

Thanks for your comment Tasha (:

what a nice surprise, I've not expected a commentfrom you as you're not on the members list, you must be watching the space! -- have you got a reply to your request to join? If not, I'm afraid it might have been at a time when the co-ordinator didn't have a watch set up. If I were you, I'd try again. If you have joined, I'll add your name to the list.

I've actually been thinking about you today as I was tidying up things on Confluence, 'cos I've not seen you on the Dashboard for a while. Hope you're still hiding backup copies on restricted pages; good use of the space as you know! And how's life? (sold the house yet? are you needing to buy another one? bestest of luck),  catch you another time, ela

    Hiya Tasha

thanks for your comment, good to hear you're back in action ... tho must say I'm a bit intimidated by the speed with which you've settled in!! (I'm just coming to the second anniversary of my arrival in Oz ... and we're still tripping over half unpacked cartons of books!! in all the spare bedrooms of the house). Is your new house nice? did you down size or the opposite, or neither? You know I'm going to Melbourne at least 4 times for work this year -- that's for another project I've got employed on (now have 2x0.5 jobs till end of June). I've already been to M and simply loooooved it.. can't wait till I go back.

... work we were talking tho...

I'm racking my brains about what I could have been pestering you about ... can't remember -- and the comments above aren't helping ... could it be to do with the Australian Early Medieval Association? At some point I thought I saw your name there and thought it would be a good idea if you added that to your personal info, with a link to the website maybe? Does this ring a bell? all the best, ela

    Hiya Tasha

impressed again! at this rate you won't need Confluence supportat all Thanks for your invite, I'd be delighted to catch up ... and am rather intrigued about how you've managed to streamline your life ... I've only colour-coded my days and parts of days and hopelessly overshoot estimates ... meaning go to bed late and get up late ... and do six day weeks in the end

... to be continued soon, am in the grip of an ARC grant applic fever, trying to put together my first ECR post-doc applic, have a great weekend, ela
