This is the home page for the Early Modern Women Writers space.

The Early Modern Women Writers Research Cluster gathers together eight national and international scholars working in the rapidly expanding cross-disciplinary field of early modern women's writing. Identifying and linking existing areas of research strength in this area across a range of institutions, the group aims to enhance Australia's already strong research reputation in this field by encouraging sustained collaboration between its members, nationally, internationally and across differing levels of experience.

The group's activities for 2007-9 include immediate plans for 2 conferences in 2008, the publication of two books or journal issues devoted to those conferences, and the development of proposals for the ARC International Linkage and Discovery Project schemes. It aims to use the resources provided by NEER, particularly Confluence and PioNEER, to support these activities and to coordinate the group's cross-institutional and cross-disciplinary projects.

Although the organizing principle and strength of the group is a shared interest in early modern women's textual practice, its individual members already work across a range of disciplines within English, including textual, historical and cultural studies, the history of the book, the new bibliography and electronic textual analysis. A research cluster within NEER will facilitate cross-fertilization between these fields of individual research strength, developing collaborative projects with a range of proposed outcomes, including significant publications and the pursuit of major external grant funding.
