This is the home page for the Using Confluence space. Here you can find information to help you use the Confluence software effectively. Detailed Help Manuals are also available from the Atlassian and Adaptavist sites.

Also, have a look at Troubleshooting, where we have started putting user tips. DO add your observations as they could save time (and frustration!).

Please make sure that you observe the Conditions of Use for Confluence.

    Hello Ela
If I want to set up a space where I, as Convenor, can initiate a general discussion - e.g. with all the cluster co-ordinators - can this be done?

What I think I need is a space which can be viewed generally by Network members, on which I can set up a topic inviting comment, and those who wish  to respond can do so.

    Thanks. Anne

    Hi Anne ,

just relaying this to Toby, we're wondering whether you are asking about two things or just one.

Hi Anne , Ela again, I posted the above quickly to catch you at your machine,

cd. 1. If you wanted to talk to cluster co-ordinators only, that would require setting up a separate space. Toby says, that can be done. You'd have to specify who could view/edit pages in this space, etc.

    2. Most spaces are viewable by network members (there are some restricted pages, eg. management committee pages). There are at least two spaces that are suitable for the general purpose:

    • this one, but one would expect comments/queries regarding "How to.."  here, 'cos it's the *Using Confluence* space
    • ARC Network for Early European Research(neer) space, where we have some general comments already.

Are you thinking along the lines of a general notice board/set topic space/forum? It would work if users agreed to watch that particular space, and got alerts about a topic being raised; otherwise you may get poor response.

A month ago, I set up a page Troubleshooting in ** Using Confluence ** spaceĀ  with the intention of it becoming a sort of forum: a place where users start sharing tips, but there have not been any comments yet. (I mentioned the page in an email I sent out to everybody but that doesn't mean users would have remembered.)
