Dear cluster-ers,
Hugh has prepared the following funding distribution from the application: (in AUD)
Best - $2995
Burrows - $100
Craig - $1055
Hirsch - $100
Lancashire - $2795
Ostovich - $2795
Wortham - $100
These figures are the totals allotted to each member, and include (where applicable) a travel allowance (with a taxi vouchers at $35 to and from the airport), accommodation ($130/night), and meals ($20 lunch, $30 dinner, 2 days).
Members are asked to make their own travel arrangements to Perth for the 1-2 July meeting. At the end of the meeting they should present receipts for their expenditures (air travel, via a photocopy of the ticket, airport transfer, accommodation, meals) to the cluster coordinators. We will pass these as a package, with a covering letter, to NEER, who will disburse the money up to the amounts listed. We will need to include bank details** for international participants so that NEER can do foreign currency transfers. For Australian members we just need a current mailing address so that NEER can send cheques (the UWA accounts system doesn't do bank transfers in AUD).
** Complete bank name, complete bank address, account number, BSB number (if available) and SWIFT/Sort/Routing number (if available).
Hugh and I would kindly ask each of you to send a short outline of your research projects (past and present) and how they might relate to the cluster objectives to both of us. Once we have received these outlines (1-2 pages in length is fine), we will have a better idea of what might be promising sessions to include in the meeting agenda. Please forward your outlines to us by the end of February.
I think it's safe to say that the first day of the meeting will involve a meet-and-greet, a roundtable discussion of current research, and a similar session to brainstorm potential collaborative projects. The agenda for the second day is still up for discussion - perhaps it might be feasible to offer a seminar on research methods (e.g. bibliography, text markup, etc.) geared at a wider audience? To assist in this, we would ask that your brief outlines include a discussion of the research skills and methods that you have employed (or intend to) in your projects. If we do decide to facilitate a seminar or workshop, we will be able to apply for additional funding (if necessary) from the Institute for Advanced Studies (UWA). What are everyone's thoughts? (Please feel free to "reply all" in answering)
We look forward to hearing from you all soon!
Best wishes,
Brett.
